Support through pregnancy, postpartum, and the many stages of parenting.

THERAPY FOR PREGNANT AND POSTPARTUM WOMEN — COUNSELING FOR PARENTS IN SOUTH DENVER METRO & ONLINE THROUGHOUT COLORADO AND ARIZONA | MINDFUL PATHWAYS COUNSELING

When you’re caring for everyone else—and starting to feel stretched thin.

Pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting can bring moments of deep joy—alongside uncertainty, exhaustion, and self-doubt.

You may not feel quite like yourself. The physical and emotional changes can feel intense, and adjusting to a new stage of life isn’t always as smooth as you expected.

Whether you’re navigating pregnancy, recovering from birth, adjusting after fertility challenges, or parenting a child at any age, it’s common to feel spread thin, unsure, or quietly overwhelmed.

These transitions reach far beyond parenting. They can affect your relationships, your sense of identity, your work, and how you show up for yourself while caring for everyone else.

Parenting doesn’t necessarily get easier as children grow. New stages — like adolescence, increasing independence, or launching into adulthood — bring their own stress, grief, and uncertainty.

When so much is changing at once, it can feel hard to slow down, catch your breath, or feel confident in who you are.

Pregnancy can be more complicated than expected.

Pregnancy can bring excitement and hope, along with stress, worry, and emotional shifts that may catch you off guard. Even when pregnancy is wanted or planned, the physical and mental changes can feel intense and unexpected.

You may notice increased anxiety, changes in mood, worries about your body or the birth, or a sense that you don’t quite feel like yourself.

These experiences are more common than people often talk about, and they don’t mean you’re doing anything wrong.

During pregnancy, you might notice:

  • Feeling more anxious, overwhelmed, or easily triggered

  • Increased worries about pregnancy, birth, or what comes next

  • Changes in how you feel about your body or yourself

  • Intrusive or unwanted thoughts that feel unsettling

Parenting isn’t always what you imagined it would be.

Loving your children deeply doesn’t make parenting easy. Even in the most meaningful relationships, there can be moments of exhaustion, frustration, and self-doubt.

You may find yourself burnt out, questioning your patience, or feeling unsure about how to respond in ways that fit with the kind of parent you want to be.

Parenting can be unpredictable and demanding, no matter how old your children are or how much experience you have.

During these times, you might notice:

  • Feeling overwhelmed, irritable, or emotionally exhausted

  • Difficulty managing patience or reactions in the moment

  • Guilt or self-criticism about how you’re showing up as a parent

  • Tension or strain within your family or relationships

  • A sense of losing yourself while caring for everyone else

What working together can look like

As a therapist certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C), I support women navigating pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenting in the South Denver Metro area and online across Colorado and Arizona. Therapy with me is collaborative and centered on what matters most to you. As a parent myself, I understand how complex and layered this time of life can be — whether you’re pregnant, newly postpartum, or raising children of any age.

I’ll guide the process by helping you make sense of what’s happening — and offer practical tools to support meaningful change. You remain in control of our focus and direction.

At the beginning, we’ll spend time getting to know each other and clarifying what feels most important right now. Some clients meet individually; others include a partner or co-parent. We’ll adjust as needed along the way.

Sessions are meant to feel comfortable and real — a space where you don’t have to be at your best. Together, we’ll work toward responding to this season with more calm, clarity, and confidence.

Erica Westphal, LMFT, PMH-C Therapy for women for pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting in South Denver Metro and online throughout Colorado and Arizona

Therapy can offer support for pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting challenges.

Therapy offers a place to step back, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and develop practical ways to respond differently.

It won’t make pregnancy or parenting effortless, but it can help you feel more supported and confident as you navigate this chapter.

Together, we may focus on:

  • Anxiety, mood changes, or intrusive thoughts during pregnancy or postpartum

  • Learning tools to respond more calmly and consistently with children of any age

  • Supporting your child through big emotions, anxiety, or behavioral struggles

  • Navigating teen independence, conflict, or shifting family roles

  • Strengthening communication and alignment with a partner or co-parent

  • Rebuilding confidence in your parenting decisions

  • Reconnecting with yourself amid the demands of this time of life

Whether you’re navigating pregnancy or parenting, the goal isn’t perfection — it’s feeling more confident, more connected, and better equipped to handle what this stage of life can bring.

Considering the next step?

If you’re navigating pregnancy, postpartum, or parenting and are curious whether therapy might be helpful, a consultation is a place to start.

It’s a chance to talk through what’s been feeling challenging, ask questions, and see whether working together feels like a good fit—without pressure or obligation.
