About Erica, lmft, PMH-C
Wherever you are in your journey, I am glad that you are here
I’m a Denver-based therapist who also works with clients online throughout Colorado. I offer specialized support for women’s mental health, including life transitions, maternal mental health, parenting, and cancer support.
Overwhelmed? Exhausted? Maybe a little Disconnected?
You are used to having everyone else’s back, but who has yours?
I work with clients who like to work collaboratively, but don’t mind being help gently accountable when needed. Since everyone works a little differently, my goal is to structure therapy in a way that is the most helpful to you. Do you like homework outside of session? I got you. Do you want the majority of our work to happen during our time together? That is fine too. An important component of working together is making sure therapy is a comfortable space for you so that you can get the most out of sessions. One size does not fit all here.
How I work
Therapy works best when it fits you.
At the start of therapy, we will take time to get to know each other and set goals for our time together. We will start working towards gaining insight into your struggles, move towards making changes, and ultimately, feeling better. Though our sessions, we will also work on skills to help with specific symptoms or problem areas. In the end, the goal is for you to feel confident, develop clarity, and have the skills to manage the next stage of life.
There can be a comfort in a therapist that has lived through some of the same or similar experiences and gets it. Less judgement, stigma, or having the explain yourself.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who is also certified in Perinatal Mental Health, but I am also a wife, a mom, and a cancer survivor. While my clinical training is valuable, so is my lived experience. My goal is to make therapy more authentic and relatable by knowing that I have navigated many of my own challenges, and that personal experience can lead to deeper understanding and insight.
In addition, I have also worked with a wide range of clients across the lifespan. Through working in agencies, nonprofits, and private practice, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients and families, each with their unique challenges and journeys. I hope that through these experiences, I can create a welcoming and safe place in sessions, regardless of background or life stories.
It isn’t easy asking for help or putting yourself out there. Therapy ideally should be supportive, non-judgmental, and ultimately, real. There is also power in feeling comfortable and understood. Working through tough issues can be hard, but in my therapy practice, I strive to make therapy an enjoyable experience. While there is work to be done, my goal for our relationship is to be an authentic connection where you can feel safe being yourself. Clients describe me as relatable, not stuffy. Feel heard, supported, and valued.
Therapy with me is —
-
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I prefer to look beyond just the individual. Everyone lives within broader relationships with partners, children, families, and workplaces. The connection between these relationships can affect the individual and their mental health.
-
Everyone has their unique strengths and abilities. I believe in focusing on your strengths, empowering you to build on your existing capabilities, and working to achieve your goals.
-
Everyone is different, and each person has unique needs and goals. I work to tailor my methods to ensure the most effective and personalized care. Working together, we will explore your challenges, identify solutions, and work towards change.
-
My role is to encourage, help, and challenge you in a way that promotes growth and learning. My role is to also help you gain tools and strategies to face life independently. I believe therapy isn’t meant to be forever, it is a stepping stone to self-reliance. While every person is welcome back if the need arises, I believe therapy shouldn’t foster dependence.
